Goals

  • Stimulate entrepreneurship among disadvantaged youngers and young adults (16-30 yrs) by engaging them in a practical, interactive and creative training program.
  • The objective is to facilitate their social and professional integration by either returning to school, finding a job or starting their own business.

Activities

In 2018, YouthStart will provide 100 entrepreneurship training programs to groups of 10-15 participants, free of charge.

On the final day of the 8-day program, participants present the business plan they developed during the course to a panel of experts, before being awarded the YouthStart Certificate.

After the program, graduates continue to be supported and mentored by YouthStart community partners.

Success Indicators

  • 82% educational or professional integration rate within 6 months after completion of the program.
  • Impact research indicates that 6 months after the completion of the program, 82% of graduates have taken charge of their future either by finding a job (59%), pursuing their education (12%) or starting their own business (11%).
  • The 82% benchmark is considered outstanding especially given the fragile and disadvantaged target population.
