The dignity of peasant farmers

With the help of funding from the King Baudouin Foundation, Mr Niyonkuru was able to take a sabbatical year to work on his recently published book, “For the dignity of peasant farmers”.

He presented the conclusions of his work on Wednesday 16 May at the University of Montréal at a conference organized jointly by the Foundation KBF CANADA, Développement et Paix and L’Œuvre Léger.

The in-depth research he carried out to assess the aid provided to date to African farmers has provoked a lot of interest. He presented practical courses of action to improve rural dignity and to ensure that local populations really do benefit from development aid.

The audience particularly appreciated his outspokenness and his vision.
