Exhibition Gabriel Kuri at the WIELS

Un projet de Prénom Nom

Thanks to a very generous gift from David Dime and Elisa Nuyten (Toronto) KBF CANADA has the opportunity to finance an exhibition of a renowned artist Gabriel Kuri, in Brussels.

  • From September 2019 until January 2020, to organize an exhibition of Gabriel Kuri, Mexican artist who is currently living and working between Brussels and Los Angeles at the Wiels (Brussels).
  • This will be a retrospective exhibition of contemporary art accessible for a broad audience.
  • Rather than presenting this overview of his work since 2004 along thematic lines or according to chronological order, the exhibition categorizes it according to material. This approach foregrounds the work’s materiality, while also raising questions about his practice.

  • KBF CANADA is working with the WIELS as one of the leading institutions for contemporary art in Europe.
  • Without a permanent collection, WIELS, the contemporary art center in Brussels, presents temporary exhibitions by national and international artists, both emerging and more established. WIELS is a site of creation and dialogue, in which art and architecture form the bases for a discussion about current events and issues, not only through the exhibition program, but also through a host of complementary activities. Over the course of the past 11 years, WIELS has presented about 100 exhibitions; has welcomed over 150 residents; and has spearheaded innumerable educational and social-artistic initiatives. Collaborations with museums and art centers of international renown are numerous. Partner institutions include: Tate Modern (London), OCA (Oslo), MoMA (New York), Haus der Kunst (Munich), Palais de Tokyo (Paris), MAMCO (Geneva) and many more…
