Exhibition Gabriel Kuri at the WIELS

Un projet de Prénom Nom

Thanks to a very generous gift from David Dime and Elisa Nuyten (Toronto) KBF CANADA has the opportunity to finance an exhibition in Brussels of the renowned artist Gabriel Kuri.

  • From September 2019 to January 2020, to organize an exhibition of Gabriel Kuri, a Mexican artist who is currently living and working between Brussels and Los Angeles.
  • This retrospective exhibition of contemporary art accessible to a wide audience will be held at the Wiels (Brussels).
  • Rather than presenting an overview of his work since 2004 along thematic lines or chronologically, the works are categorized according to material. This approach highlights the work’s materiality, while also raising questions about the artist’s practice.

  • KBF CANADA is working with the WIELS, one of the leading institutions for contemporary art in Europe.
  • Without a permanent collection, WIELS, the contemporary art center in Brussels, presents temporary exhibitions by national and international artists, both emerging and more established. WIELS is a site of creation and dialogue, in which art and architecture form the bases for discussion about current events and issues, through both the exhibition program and a host of complementary activities. Over the course of the past 11 years, WIELS has presented some 100 exhibitions; has welcomed over 150 residents; and has spearheaded innumerable educational and social-artistic initiatives. Collaborations with museums and art centers of international renown are numerous. Partner institutions include: Tate Modern (London), OCA (Oslo), MoMA (New York), Haus der Kunst (Munich), Palais de Tokyo (Paris), MAMCO (Geneva) and many more.
