Context

  • Mental and cognitive health has become a major concern in the world today.
  • According to the World Health Organization, depression, burnout and cognitive fatigue will soon become the second cause of disability among the working population. Data relating to younger groups of the population are already alarming, particularly for those at university who will become tomorrow’s leaders.
  • However, an increasingly extensive body of scientific research shows that nature has a powerful impact on people’s mental health.

Objectives

The Fund’s objectives are:

  • to finance and publish the results of scientific research that demonstrates the positive impact of nature on people. Partners: McGill University and the University of Sherbrooke;
  • to finance and implement educational programmes among groups at risk. Two groups in particular are targeted: youngsters aged 14 to 25 and entrepreneurs.

KBF CANADA is working on this charitable project together with the Université dans la Nature. The UDN’s mission is to promote the benefits of contact with nature on our health and well-being through a rational and experiential approach based on scientific research.
