Who are we?

KBF CANADA’s mission is to facilitate thoughtful, effective giving

KBF FOUNDATION CANADA was established at the initiative of the Brussels-based King Baudouin Foundation to allow Canadian donors to participate in charities spearheaded by KBF CANADA, while sharing the same values upheld by the King Baudouin Foundation: integrity, transparency, pluralism and independence, respect for diversity and promotion of solidarity.

KBF CANADA is incorporated under the Canada Not-for-profit Corporations Act and which meets the registration requirements of the Income Tax Act as a charitable organization. As such, KBF CANADA is authorized to issue to its donors official receipts for tax purposes in Canada.

KBF CANADA has a mission to facilitate thoughtful, effective donations. In collaboration with the King Baudouin Foundation, that developed an exceptional, highly developed international network with partners in a number of countries, KBF CANADA manages charitable projects selected from among the suggestions made by Canadian donors and charitable organizations.

We work with individuals, families, corporations, and foundations, and help them support their favourite causes and organizations, anywhere in Canada or abroad, whether a university in South Africa, a museum in France or Italy, a homeless centre in Montreal, a children’s hospital in Kenya, an elementary school in the Democratic Republic of Congo, a business school in India, or an orphanage in Haiti. We craft personalized solutions for one-time gifts or recurring donations through donor‑advised funds.

In addition to the work we do with donors, we have partnerships with Canadian, European, African, Asian and American organizations with a view to implementing charitable projects consistent with the criteria of the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA).

The way in which projects are carried out and donations are spent is tightly controlled and monitored, and is governed by two priorities:

  • have a clear and concrete impact, measured using success indicators;
  • minimize management fees as much as possible: 95% of the money raised for the projects goes directly to the charitable activities.

Flexible and impact-oriented. Effective and reliable. This is KBF CANADA.

We are committed to:

  • increasing the impact of donations;
  • being professional and effective;
  • demonstrating integrity and transparency;
  • cultivating excellence, creativity, and flexibility.
